“Edward J. Schimberg studied at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Innsbruck from October 1904 to July 1907. Edward J. Schimberg was born in Seymour/Wisconsin. His father Henry (Heinrich) Sch. lived in Appleton/Wisconsin.
Before Schimberg studied at the University of Innsbruck, he studied at St. Lawrence College, Mt. Calvary-Wisconsin. In the Archive Departement of the University of Innsbruck, we have only this information about Edward Schimberg. “At Innsbruck, in Tyrol, Bishop Fox ordained two candidates for the priesthood from Appleton, Wis., who were visiting there at the time. This is the first time an American bishop has ordained a priest of his own diocese in a foreign land. The young priests – Edward Schimberg and M. Jaekels – are now on the ocean returning to their diocese await their appointment to some parish.”
