“Edward J. Schimberg studied at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Innsbruck from October 1904 to July 1907. Edward J. Schimberg was born in Seymour/Wisconsin. His father Henry (Heinrich) Sch. lived in Appleton/Wisconsin.
Before Schimberg studied at the University of Innsbruck, he studied at St. Lawrence College, Mt. Calvary-Wisconsin. In the Archive Departement of the University of Innsbruck, we have only this information about Edward Schimberg. From The Post-Crescent, Appleton, Wisconsin, 06 Aug 1907, Page 5:
“At Innsbruck, in Tyrol, Bishop Fox ordained two candidates for the priesthood from Appleton, Wis., who were visiting there at the time. This is the first time an American bishop has ordained a priest of his own diocese in a foreign land. The young priests – Edward Schimberg and M. Jaekels – are now on the ocean returning to their diocese await their appointment to some parish.”
